R0 stepping for Intel Core 2 Duo E5200 – a number of changes and a small gain in speed
Processor Intel Core 2 Duo E5200 (45 nm, 2.5 GHz, 2 MB cache second level, FSB 800 MHz), presented by Intel at the beginning of September, and having to work in desktop systems, it was decided to update – CPU has a new stepping – R0.
This is from document Intel PCN No. 109227-00. The new version of the kernel Wolfdale-2M changes from version M0 stepping on R0. In this version of the processor core will have new instructions (XSAVE / XRSTOR), a power management, change the type of packaging.
R0 CPUID to be replaced with 10677 for the 1067A, Power State Indicator (PSI) is supported chipsets Intel 4 Series, the value S-SPEC and MM changing it from SLAY7 and 896,940 at SLB9T and 898,338 respectively.
Test samples are available for three days now. What’s curious, «R-SC», circulated partner company, is the frequency of 2.7 GHz and the unlocked multiplier, so the manufacturer recommends its own to reduce the frequency standard for M0 2,5 GHz.
An updated version of Core 2 Duo E5200 will be available from 13 April.
