The display prototype is executed on technology «Electronic Paper» (e-paper) and can show dynamic images, demonstrated the Samsung Electronics company at the SID Display Week 2009 event.
Diagonal screen size prototype was 10.2 inches. To display static and dynamic images is using two modes. We can say that Samsung  specialists have joined two displays in one.

The panel is an active matrix, in which «a certain type of holisteric liquid crystals». In mode, called the «mode of memory», the panel operates as e-paper, and in the «dynamic mode,» it recalls the usual liquid-crystal display. The screen resolution of the prototype is 320 x RGB x 240 pixels. The maximum number of displayable colors is equal to 64. The reflective properties of the panel, according to published data, no more than 10%, and response time – less than 25ms.
The prototype needs to be refined as «electronic paper» and as videodisplay too. The approach chosen by the South Korean company may be fruitful, as currently used e-paper displays are limited to displaying static information that narrows the scope of their application.
